Outdoor sports tournaments—from local marathons to international cricket matches—use rental LED displays to keep spectators informed and engaged, even in remote or temporary venues. Unlike stadiums with built-in screens, outdoor tournaments often take place in parks, city streets, or rural fields where infrastructure is limited, making rental displays essential for real-time updates. The 2024 New York City Marathon, which winds through five boroughs, installed 12 rental LED displays (ranging from 3×5m to 4×6m) at key spectator hubs, including Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge. These displays (P3.9 pixel pitch, IP66 rating) showed live race footage, leaderboards, split times, and safety announcements—content updated every 10 seconds via integration with the marathon’s timing system.

Durability is a non-negotiable trait for outdoor sports rental displays, and the NYC Marathon units were engineered to withstand October’s variable weather (rain, wind, temperature drops from 15°C to 5°C). Their anti-glare coating ensured visibility even when the sun was low in the sky, and reinforced frames protected against accidental bumps from crowds. For organizers, the displays’ portability was key: they were transported via small trucks to locations inaccessible to large vehicles and set up by teams of 2–3 technicians each. Beyond race info, the displays ran sponsor content (e.g., athletic shoe ads, energy drink promotions) that helped offset event costs. Spectator surveys showed that 88% found the displays "very useful" for following the race, and 76% said they stayed longer at their viewing hub because of the real-time updates. After the marathon, the displays were rented for a triathlon in Miami the following month, maximizing their value. For outdoor sports events, rental LED displays bridge the gap between temporary venues and professional spectator experiences, keeping crowds informed and engaged while staying within budget.
